Happy spring, friends!
Long time, no chat. I’ve been so busy with moving, a new job and my business that I haven’t really been doing things that make me happy–like this blog and all the outdoor things I really love!
We all know what’s been happening in the world lately… I’m not even going to get into it, but I will tell you that I’m choosing to focus on things that give me life during this time of stillness. And you know what makes me happy? Plants! Especially in quarantine because I check on them all day long.
I dream of days that I can have acres of land and a massive garden. Who knows how long it will be until that dream comes true, so I’m not going to waste any time on my way there! Just because I live in an apartment complex for the time being, doesn’t mean that I can’t have a little garden right here on my balcony.
So, during a quarantine stock-up, I grabbed some plants and soil and got to work! Because I’m limited on space, I chose to keep things small this year. Until I have more time (and I’m not risking the health of myself and others by being out and about) to set up more of a raised bed situation, I’ve just got herbs and fruits. It’s just enough to fill my heart.
I planted a raspberry plant in a pot I’ve been itching to do something with for two years now. This is my first time growing raspberries!

I planted some strawberries in old wine box that I used to use for shoe storage. Be resourceful with what you’ve got! And, let me tell you, they’ve already grown so much since I planted them two days ago!

Last, but not least, I utilized a hanging shoe organizer to plant my herbs! I will definitely credit Pinterest for this one and, Lord, I hope it isn’t a fail. Here, I planted rosemary, lavender, cilantro, sweet mint, and dill and baby’s breath from seed.

Remember, the most important thing when you’re thinking about planting a balcony garden is to observe how much sunlight it gets and when. That way, you know what plants you can grow and where to place them.
Be sure you’re following me on Instagram @littlehoneyhunts for updates on this little project of mine; and don’t forget to do something that gives you life this week!
xx,
Kylee Jane
